This week we sit in the grief with Pastor Jimmy — and find God already speaking through it — then the everyday doors He keeps opening, a world that would build itself without Him, and prayer for our own.

Segment One · In Memoriam

John C. Dvorak — and hearing God in the grief

Adam opens with the hardest news, sharing it first with Pastor Jimmy as a friend: John C. Dvorak has passed — his No Agenda partner of nearly nineteen years, twice a week, his “work wife.” It came at the end of a whiplash week that also brought the joy of a new granddaughter.

And it came gently. After Sunday’s show — both of them in full form — John was home with his wife, Mimi: dinner, laughter, an old episode of NCIS, John grousing about a plot hole in typical fashion. As Mimi describes it, it was simply lights out. Peaceful. Unplugged. “Sign me up for that one,” Adam and Pastor Jimmy agree.

Which leaves the raw question: what now? And here’s the thing — Adam hasn’t had to go looking for scripture this week. It has been coming to him, landing exactly when needed: verses surfacing on their own through his devotional apps, and a stranger emailing out of the blue — “praying for peace for you and everyone this morning, Adam” — with no idea what had happened. Which is the real question of the hour: how do you know when it’s God speaking to you?

The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.

The person in whom God delights is one who follows God, trusts Him, and tries to do His will. God watches over and makes firm every step that person takes. If you would like to have God direct your way, then seek His advice before you step out.

There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the LORD’s counsel—that will stand.

The faith adventure — “what now?”

God’s will is a continuous journey of discovery and faith. True obedience requires stepping into the unknown without being paralyzed by uncertainty — trusting Jesus as our guide while staying flexible to the Holy Spirit’s direction, rather than locked into our own rigid plans.

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.

Hebrews 11:8

Are you inspired or intimidated by your faith adventure? Do you anticipate or dread doing the next right thing as you fulfill God’s calling on your life? Yes, Christ must come to you in clarity before you venture out for Him in obedience. But once you are sure of the Lord’s leading, do not let up until you have arrived at His destination. Segment Two · Boots on the Ground

The doors God is opening

Two everyday-life doors opening on their own. First, a boots-on-the-ground moment: at the hairdresser, she tells Adam about the book everyone is reading right now — Theo of Golden — and then, unprompted, asks if she can come to church with Adam and the Keeper. No sermon required; the door simply opened.

Segment Three

A world without God

The mirror image of the doors God is opening: the thing the world keeps trying to build without Him. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, taking apart the ideology of radical leftism, names it plainly.

The world it envisions for all of us is small, flat, gray, leveled of all exception, drained of all that is good and noble in the human soul — a world without courage, without creativity or ambition, without heroes or glory or great causes to strive towards, a world without miracles, without myths… And the world communism envisions is a world without God.

Segment Four · Prayer

The church carries its own

We close on the family. Two of our own are in the hardest stretch this week — please lift them up:

• Ian’s father — unstable and suffering after chemo; the news is grim. Pray for strength for Ian and his dad, and for mercy.

• Pete — home from a stay in the ICU and bracing for what’s next. Pray for healing and for the road ahead.

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
