They will be snared and captured.”

16 Preserve the teaching of God; entrust his instructions to those who follow me.

17 I will wait for the LORD, who has turned away from the descendants of Jacob. I will put my hope in him.

Hebrews 12:11

Obedience over impulse. The third V. Jimmy reads it in the NIV on air - “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, later on however it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace.”

11 No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.

1 Kings 19:11-12

Quit looking for epic. Jimmy’s answer to Paul Erskine, who wrote in to ask why he has never had the burning-bush moment other people describe.

11 “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the LORD told him. And as Elijah stood there, the LORD passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.

12 And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.

We Get To Do This is Value4Value. Welcome to all new subscribers of We Get To Do This (WGTDT). Many of you subscribed last week — during one of the hardest weeks ever — and we’re glad you’re here. If you haven’t listened to the podcast yet, Adam and Pastor Jimmy talk about God, the world and other things. A new show posts every Wednesday afternoon.

Here are some things Adam and Pastor Jimmy will discuss.

It was a tough week for Adam. He navigated a rollercoaster of emotions while making decisions and reading and responding to thousands of messages. The outpouring of support was truly astounding and he saw a recurring theme.

Adam got a word from someone in the church. And it was all too fitting for what is happening right now in his life. Of course, he’ll share the details.

When there’s a public figure that everyone despises, how do believers deal with this?

Pastor Jimmy and Adam are geared up to talk about faith leaders and the impact of AI.

WGTDT is V4V

Researching, preparing and producing a podcast takes work. WGTDT is a value for value show (V4V). If you’re receiving any value from the podcast and would like to send some value back, here are three ways:

SEND A DONATION — Support the show with a donation — and again, the amount you send is entirely up to you. Dvorak — and hearing God in the grief

Adam opens with the hardest news, sharing it first with Pastor Jimmy as a friend: John C. Dvorak has passed — his No Agenda partner of nearly nineteen years, twice a week, his “work wife.” It came at the end of a whiplash week that also brought the joy of a new granddaughter.

And it came gently. After Sunday’s show — both of them in full form — John was home with his wife, Mimi: dinner, laughter, an old episode of NCIS, John grousing about a plot hole in typical fashion. As Mimi describes it, it was simply lights out. Peaceful. Unplugged. “Sign me up for that one,” Adam and Pastor Jimmy agree.

Which leaves the raw question: what now? And here’s the thing — Adam hasn’t had to go looking for scripture this week. It has been coming to him, landing exactly when needed: verses surfacing on their own through his devotional apps, and a stranger emailing out of the blue — “praying for peace for you and everyone this morning, Adam” — with no idea what had happened. Which is the real question of the hour: how do you know when it’s God speaking to you?

The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.

Psalm 37:23 (NLT) — the verse that found Adam this week

The person in whom God delights is one who follows God, trusts Him, and tries to do His will. God watches over and makes firm every step that person takes. If you would like to have God direct your way, then seek His advice before you step out.

There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the LORD’s counsel—that will stand.

Proverbs 19:21 (NKJV)

The faith adventure — “what now?”

God’s will is a continuous journey of discovery and faith. True obedience requires stepping into the unknown without being paralyzed by uncertainty — trusting Jesus as our guide while staying flexible to the Holy Spirit’s direction, rather than locked into our own rigid plans.

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.

Hebrews 11:8

Are you inspired or intimidated by your faith adventure? Do you anticipate or dread doing the next right thing as you fulfill God’s calling on your life? Yes, Christ must come to you in clarity before you venture out for Him in obedience. But once you are sure of the Lord’s leading, do not let up until you have arrived at His destination. Go on your great adventure with God, and, like a visit to a new country, enjoy the new sights and people. — Boyd Bailey, Wisdom Hunters

Segment Two · Boots on the Ground

The doors God is opening

Two everyday-life doors opening on their own. First, a boots-on-the-ground moment: at the hairdresser, she tells Adam about the book everyone is reading right now — Theo of Golden — and then, unprompted, asks if she can come to church with Adam and the Keeper. No sermon required; the door simply opened.

About the book — Theo of Golden by Allen Levi

A stranger named Theo arrives in the small Southern city of Golden. At the local coffeehouse, pencil portraits of the townspeople hang on the walls — and Theo begins buying them one at a time, giving each portrait back to the person it depicts, asking only for their story in return. Portrait by portrait, secrets surface, regrets are shared, and ordinary lives are quietly transformed. A novel about generosity, being seen, and the small miracles of kindness. (#1 New York Times for three weeks; a Katie Couric and Jen Hatmaker book‑club pick.)

A listener writes in

And a walk coming back to life — Jim (Sir 11921) wrote in:

Love the new, or new to me, podcast. It is really helping me on my walk with Christ — which honestly has been stagnant for most of my life. But God uses a lot of people when they are older. Look at Moses, Abraham.

Jim (Sir 11921)

“God uses people when they are older.” Moses. Abraham. The same faith-adventure thread — a stagnant walk stirred, late, and coming alive.

Segment Three

A world without God

The mirror image of the doors God is opening: the thing the world keeps trying to build without Him. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, taking apart the ideology of radical leftism, names it plainly.

The world it envisions for all of us is small, flat, gray, leveled of all exception, drained of all that is good and noble in the human soul — a world without courage, without creativity or ambition, without heroes or glory or great causes to strive towards, a world without miracles, without myths… And the world communism envisions is a world without God.

Sec. Marco Rubio

To its architects, the towering achievement of our civilization is an unbearable humiliation — a reminder of what they cannot do, and what they cannot be. (Full clip linked below.)

Segment Four · Prayer

The church carries its own

We close on the family. Two of our own are in the hardest stretch this week — please lift them up:

Ian’s father — unstable and suffering after chemo; the news is grim. Pray for strength for Ian and his dad, and for mercy.

Pete — home from a stay in the ICU and bracing for what’s next. Pray for healing and for the road ahead.

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

James 5:16

Sources & Receipts

Rubio — “a world without God” (the radical-leftism speech) — x.com/i/status/2079709758412763556

Theo of Golden by Allen Levi — Simon & Schuster

Psalm 37:23 (NLT) — bible.com

Proverbs 19:21 (NKJV) — bible.com

Hebrews 11:8 — bible.com

We get to do this. — Adam & Pastor Jimmy

God, The World & Other Things

Welcome to the Inaugural We Get To Do This Newsletter

We Get To Do This

You’re receiving this newsletter because you have someway, somehow connected with Adam Curry or Pastor Jimmy Pruitt, listened to Living Up In A Down World, No Agenda, Curry & The Keeper or We Get To Do This. There are many ways you’ve come to know us and we’re glad you’re here. Of course, if you want to opt out, we understand.

We Get To Do This (WGTDT) debuted on September 3, 2025. Hard to believe the podcast is coming up on the one-year anniversary. Believe it or not, WGTDT was three years in the making before it launched. When Adam and Jimmy became fast friends nearly four years ago, they enjoyed intense conversations about God, the world and other things. It only made sense to hit record. And of course, it was all God’s perfect timing.

The podcast brings together what many call two opposing genres — culture and Christianity. But it’s not in opposition at all. With Adam’s talent of deconstructing culture and media combined with Pastor Jimmy’s four plus decades of ministry, they bring a fresh perspective on what’s happening through the lens of a Biblical worldview. We hope you’re enjoying it.

Supporting The Show

A lot of work goes into researching, preparing and producing the podcast. And just like Living Up In A Down World, No Agenda and Curry & The Keeper, WGTDT is a value for value podcast.
